They use a local-solution system that allows for easy penetration into several markets. Currently, OSI Group has its presence in 17 countries operating 50 plants.
David joined the OSI group, after graduating, in 1987 slowly working his way up the ranks to become the president he is today. Mr. Mcdonald was born in the state of Iowa. In 1987, he graduated from the state university of Iowa with an undergraduate degree in animal science. David joined the OSI as a junior officer going on to serve as project manager. He is also the chairman of the North American meat institute. After Mafrig Global Foods acquired OSI facilities in Europe and Brazil, he now serves as their independent director. David is also a member of the board of trustees at OSI group.
Under Mr. McDonald’s tenure, OSI has witnessed tremendous growth in line with the vision of the stakeholders. This profit has seen them make expansions in countries such as China where they have operated for the past 20 years. These developments follow an increasing taste for fine foods in populous nation. They have upgraded facilities in Poland, introduced newer ones in India and Geneva. In a bid to stay ahead of the competition, OSI follows up on manufacturers always trying to better the processes involved in food quality and safety, developing better machines with x-ray capabilities to detect unwanted particles. OSI also monitors the growth of the agricultural products they use as raw materials. The suppliers have to be made aware of all standards and responsibilities to actualize the companies visions.
In August 2016, Mr. David reported that the OSI group had bought Baho Foods as part of a greater plan to penetrate the European market, and eventually expand its market reach in the region. The two companies made similar products, and the intention was for their products to complement each other in the market.
In his capacity as president, David is always looking for new methods to grow the company both in innovation and geographical reach. With such a leader and an even greater team, the OSI can only snowball further.
